Meet Munchie, The Tiny Cat With Dwarfism That Will Look Like A Kitten Forever

Babies, puppies, kittens – there’s really nothing cuter than someone who’s brand-new to the world, and I think we all sometimes find ourselves wishing they’d stay small for just a little bit longer.

Well, if you have, then you’ll fall in love with this sweet little guy.

Munchie is a seven-month-old kitty but he still looks like a little kitten and weighs less than 2 kg.

This is because he’s afflicted with a rare condition called hypoparathyroidism which will leave him “kitten-sized” for the rest of his life.

Munchie was rescued by his mommy, Emily Tomlinson, when he was only three weeks old.

The tiny kitten was taken in by the Wolverhampton veterinary practice after being abandoned and Tomlinson, who works at the practice, decided to adopt him.

Apart from his dwarfism, Munchie is also afflicted with cloudy eyes which gives him quite a unique appearance but thankfully does not affect his eyesight.

However, Tomlinson theorizes that his cloudy eyes were the reason why Munchie was abandoned by his previous owner.

But while his cloudy eyes do not bother him, his hypoparathyroidism has recently put him through a serious health scare.

Last Christmas, Munchie collapsed and had to receive intravenous fluids for four days, Tomlinson revealed in an interview with LADbible.

Luckily, Munchie recovered and his collapse helped bring attention to the fact that he has hypoparathyroidism which means that he’s now getting the supplements he needs; vitamin D and calcium.

Tomlinson believes that Munchie’s life expectancy should be similar to that of a healthy cat, but since hypoparathyroidism is so rare, it’s difficult to say for sure.

According to Tomlinson, they’ve only heard of one other cat that’s been diagnosed with hypoparathyroidism, so they do not have a lot of information available on how his situation will progress.

For now, they just have to hope for the best. And little Munchie can be safe in the knowledge that he is in the best possible hands; his mommy is ready to do everything she can to keep him healthy and happy and she did not think twice about spending about £2,500 on Munchie’s boxing-day emergency treatment.

It’s evident that Munchie is incredibly loved and we’re sure that he’s going to have a very happy life with Tomlinson.

He’s a very cuddly and playful little guy and despite his small size, he’s got a big heart and a big personality. Tomlinson appreciates every moment with her little sweetheart and knows how lucky she is to have him in her life.

It’s clear that this little kitten is exactly where he’s supposed to be and we’re so happy for both Munchie and Tomlinson.
