The only thing that the scared pup had to comfort herself was her teddy bear. So she clung to it.

Luna, a young dog, held her teddy bear near while she adjusted to her new, odd circumstances, unwilling to go anywhere without it. The sweet puppy had just been surrendered to San Antonio Animal Care Services, and the plush animal was the only item she had left from her previous home.

“Familiarity is comforting for everyone in times of stress, and this is no doubt the reason why Luna is so attached to her bear,” Lisa Norwood, public relations manager at San Antonio Animal Care Services, told The Dodo. “[The] bear came from home, smells like home and was a reminder of what she used to have.”

Fortunately, Luna had many advocates at the shelter and beyond who wanted to help her find a new home. Luna’s loving personality was appreciated by Animal Care Services workers, who were always patient with the pup when she became overwhelmed.

“[She] hasn’t lost any of her playful puppy personality,” she remarked. “She was energetic and playful, but also seemed stressed with all the newness or her situation at times.”

Luna and her teddy were eventually transferred to Vermont English Bulldog Rescue, where Luna could continue her search for her future family.

Norwood hopes Luna will find her people, a family who will embrace Luna’s fun personality.

“Luna needs a home with a patient, loving and active family,” she stated. “She needs a lifelong home.”
