This kid became obsessed with saving shelter dogs when he was 3 years old, and went on to find 4,800 of them homes
A little boy named Roman was determined to make a positive difference in the lives of shelter dogs. His world changed when he realised the bleak future that awaited many dogs in shelters when he was just four years old.
This realisation sparked a fire within him, propelling him on a quest to rewrite the stories of these helpless creatures.
Roman’s adventure began when he was four years old and realised the awful state of homeless dogs.
“I’ve been helping shelter dogs since I was about 4 years old when I learned that if dogs don’t get homes that they have to go to heaven and to my 4-year-old mind I was just like, ‘oh well let’s just fix that,’” Roman was quoted as saying by The Dodo.
They made regular excursions to shelters, filming movies to highlight these dogs and increase their prospects of finding permanent homes, with his mother’s full support.
Their primary concern? Those fearful, timid dogs with no voice of their own.
It wasn’t just about making videos, though. Many of these shelter dogs found temporary sanctuary in their own homes, where they were tenderly fostered until they could be adopted by a permanent family.
The love and care they gave these dogs was undeniable, and each animal pet left an unforgettable impact on their hearts.
They established Project Freedom Ride after recognising the need for a more ambitious endeavour.
The project’s purpose was straightforward but powerful: move dogs from high-kill areas in Texas to locations like Washington, where the demand for dogs considerably surpassed the supply.
Their relentless dedication has resulted in over 4,800 dogs finding loving homes since its debut in 2015.
Roman and his family also fostered dogs, notably a puppy named Bolt.
Bolt was a puppy that Roman’s family fostered for several months. Every minute was treasured, from lively mornings to occasional drive-thru snacks.
“Bolt came to us when he was just a puppy, and he grew up to be my wrestling partner.” “At the very least, I know he’ll go to a wonderful family,” Roman remarked.
The boy and Bolt had an unbreakable bond, and saying goodbye was a heartbreaking experience. However, knowing Bolt was going to a loving home made the transition easier to accept.
It took a team effort to find Bolt’s forever home.
Bolt was brought from Georgia to Florida with the assistance of the boy’s father and a family friend named Sarah.
Bolt’s enthusiasm and excitement at finally meeting his new family was evident; a new chapter in his life was about to begin.
The life and mission of this young boy shine as a light of hope.
It’s a reminder that a one person can make a huge difference in the world, emphasising the value of compassion and the endless joy that animals bring into our lives.
The boy’s journey, intertwined with the stories of the dogs he saved, presents a narrative of love, dedication, and humanity’s indestructible spirit.
