These nocturnal creatures live in regions of Australia, Southeast Asia, and India. Their main characteristics are their large mouths, fluffy feathers, and the fact that their chicks are simply adorable.

Their wide mouths make their faces so expressive and the camera just loves them. The Internet simply followed suit. We’ve collected some of the cutest pictures of frogmouth chicks and we’re sure you’ll love them.

Frogmouths prey on mice and frogs, but feed primarily on insects. And they have an interesting technique for softening up their prey, something you’d never expect from such a cute creature.

They sometimes smash their prey against a rock before eating it. They’re nice, but don’t mess with them.

In fact, frogmouths are egalitarian birds. Females lay up to 3 white eggs and incubate them at night, while the male incubates the eggs during the day.

Save Our Waterways Now states that tawny frogmouths (native to Australia, Tasmania, and New Guinea) are exceptionally sociable and friendly. They often snuggle together, cheer each other on, and act like a happy little family.

One of the most significant differences between frogmouths and owls is their legs. Owls use their powerful talons to catch prey, while frogmouths have somewhat weak talons and use their beaks for hunting. But they are no different from each other where it matters most: both owl and frog mouth chicks are adorable.
