Neglected dog spent six years stuck in a corner until someone finally saved her

Ducky was cowering in the corner of a room filled with animal waste when Elli, the founder of Sky Sanctuary Rescue, first encountered her. Ducky spent at least six years in that corner.

She shared the room with more than 20 other creatures. She was never stroked or loved on, and she never had the opportunity to run and play as a dog should.

“When I came into the bedroom, I noticed her in the corner, her small eyes simply gazing up at me for help,” Elli said to The Dodo. “She looked into my soul and said, ‘Please get me out of here!’”

That’s just what Elli did. Elli took Ducky to get cleaned up right after she was rescued.

She had to be shaved to get rid of the thick fur mats that had grown on her body.

“She really really kind of came to life as soon as we pulled those mats off,” Elli added.

Ducky’s mood had obviously been raised as well.

Ducky was overjoyed to be at Elli’s house, which also housed four other enormous female dogs, because she had previously lived in a house with so many pets.

Elli was concerned about Ducky’s reaction to the unfamiliar environment, but it turned out to be “sort of magical.”

“She went in and you could quickly detect a sign of relief in her since she adores other animals,” Elli adds. “There was an immediate connection. Not so much with me as with my animals.”

Elli discovered that Ducky was really afraid and apprehensive after spending some time with him.

Ducky, on the other hand, grew in confidence and learnt to trust more with some love, kindness, and instruction.

“Ducky’s personality has evolved considerably since we initially acquired her; I would say she discovered her voice after three weeks,” Elli remarked. “She started vocalizing what she wanted and just playing, and she got really silly, and she’s just become such a happy girl with the other animals.”

Elli couldn’t be happier.

“She’s making great strides,” Eli said on Sky Sanctuary Rescue’s Facebook page. “I was so proud yesterday that it brought me to tears.”

Ducky will be placed for adoption once she has completed her training.

“I believe the greatest sort of family for Ducky would be someone who is dedicated to her needs,” Elli added.

Ducky would benefit from a home with other animals as well as someone who is patient and would provide Ducky with the attention she requires to overcome the trauma of neglect.

“It’s amazing what a little time, patience, and a lot of love can do!” This dog deserves the finest that life has to offer!” wrote a Facebook follower.

And it appears like Ducky is well on her way to having the life that every dog desires.
