One of the greatest challenges any shelter staff can face is taking care of a senior dog who has been abused and neglected for so long. This was the challenge of the Pit Crew staff after saving a dog called Hero from a very abusive environment.
The shelter knew that it would be a very hard challenge for them as they had no idea how long the dog can live as he was completely abused.
However, a couple, Anna and Rusty, decided to accept this challenge as they were looking for a dog and they fell in love with Hero when they met him.
Anna shared online that once she met Hero she fell in love with him as it was like he told her to love him from his eyes.
Nevertheless, she said that the most important thing was that their other dog, Sugar Bear, accepted Hero. So, the set up a meet-and-welcome between the 2 dogs to see if Sugar Bear would accept him.
What happened in the meeting was unbelievable as Sugar was really happy after seeing Hero and the two was able to create a great bond.
Anna shared that Hero and Sugar do almost everything together and they even sleep together. Hero just wants to be petted all the time from everyone he meets.
Heโd start nudging you if you stop petting him to remind you. And if there are more than one person and you finish petting him, he moves to the other one to get petted. Fortunately, Hero, who was expected to live a few months, lived approximately 3 years, before he sadly died on 6th of May, 2022.
The family shared that despite everything heโd been through, he only wanted to be petted and loved by everyone he met. Watch the video below.
